OVERVIEW

zPDT Software Update, release date April 10, 2017.
This release of GA-7 (49.28) includes the following updates

  • Support for CFCC Level 21
  • Crypto CCA 5.3
  • 2048 Device Support
  • Support for native Ubuntu Linux (see the release letter in section 6 for this release)

In addition, the base GA-6 base driver (49.23) provides the following enhancements which are continued in 49.23.02:

  • This special fixpack updates the two Safenet rpms to fix problem where licenses cannot be obtained on
latest Linux levels or after a Linux upgrade. In this case “token” command results in
CPU 0, No Sentinel License Available 312
    Server Time Out
  • zPDT code was not changed or rebuilt in this fixpack.
  • Fixed a display error in the “listVtoc” command.
  • Fixed an untrusted search path issue with the “awsstart” command using the “–clean” option. Reference CWE-426.
  • Recent Linux for System z kernels fail during IPL. This occurs in Linux for System z kernels compiled for zec12 or later. These kernels require the System z Interlocked-Access Facility 2, which is represented by bit 52 in the output of the STFLE instruction. This version of zPDT has this feature.
  • Added “aws_tapeInit” stand alone utility to create an initialized tape volume. Example of command – “aws_tapeInit [volser] [path/to/file] (no man page)
  • Added “aws_tapeInsp” to print out information about the volser, header1, header2. Example of command – “aws_tapeInsp [path/to/file] (no man page)
  • Fixed a Leap Second time shift in zPDT environment.
  • Added a feature to notify designated administrator via email that token license is about to expire. Email recipients are configured by setting the environment variable: ZPDT_EXP_EMAIL with a list of email addresses. For example, “export ZPDT_EXP_EMAIL=” email address”
  • Clientconfig added the ability to add an additional BackupServer license server
  • Added “clientconfig_cli” as a command line version of clientconfig. Example – “clientconfig_cli -h” prints help.
  • The UIM Portnumber function was incorrectly adding plus 1 to an explicitly defined port number.
  • Miscellaneous changes

This product is only available to Authorized ITC Customers. IBM Personnel and their Subcontractors are to use Resource Link.

INSTALLATION

If installed on a clean machine (with no Safenet rpms previously installed or Safenet rpms removed and then machine rebooted), users will be able to obtain licenses right after installation. If installed on a machine that has a previous z1090 installed, A machine reboot will be required after the installation.
Once machine is back up, users will be able to obtain licenses. Failure to reboot will prevent obtaining licensing with a return code of 304 – “license not available”
This release will install over any exiting zpdt driver already installed. And any other driver will install over this release. But if you re-install an older release, the Safenet rpms will go back to the bad versions and you will not obtain licenses. For downloaded zip file:
