OVERVIEW

zPDT release 1.5 Driver 47.16

zPDT Software Update, release date September 10, 2014.

zPDT Release 1.5 is a complete new release and includes several enhancements and fixes.  Release 1.5  includes support for zEC12 GA2 CPU Architecture, zEC12 Crypto Emulation enhancements, greatly enhanced 3590/3592 support, upgraded coupling support to CF Level 19 SL30, and support for decrypting of latest z/OS ADCD residence volumes. The 47.16 integrates previous fixes and enhancements in driver 47.14.01, a previous patch for the LRE CCW ptrocessing, and a fix to properly display a license expiration notice
Release 1.5 (driver 47.10 or later) is required for the installation and operation of the z/OS 2.1 ADCD system.

This product is only available to Authorized ITC Customers. IBM Personnel and their Subcontractors are to use Resource Link.

INSTALLATION

zPDT release 1.5 Driver 47.16

For downloaded zip file:

  • Unzip the downloaded release file
  • Review the CD Readme file (.txt & .pdf) for full information and instructions
  • FTP or otherwise transfer the install file (z1090-1-5.47.14.x86_64) to your zPDT system in the /tmp directory
  • Switch to root (UID 0) mode: su –
  • Change to the /tmp directory: cd /tmp
  • Make the program file executable: chmod 775 z1090-1-5.47.16.x86_64
  • Execute the z1090 installer program ./z1090-1-5.47.16.x86_64
  • You will have to scroll through the license agreement then accept it. The installation should then complete.

For CDROM or .iso distributions:

  • See the instructions in the CD_Readme file (.txt and .pdf) on the CD for full information
  • Copy the z1090 files to your /tmp directory1: cp /media/ZPDT/linux/z1090* /tmp
  • Switch to root (UID 0) mode su –
  • Change to the /tmp directory cd /tmp
  • Make the program file executable: chmod 775 z1090-1-5.47.16.x86_64
  • Execute the z1090 installer program ./z1090-1-5.47.16.x86_64
  • You will have to scroll through the license agreement then accept it. The installation should then complete.

1Different releases of Linux may automatically mount the CD at a different mount point than shown here. You may have to determine the correct path to the install file.

The patch which was distributed with 47.14.01 has been incorporated into the base install file so there are no additional patches to be installed
You should test your system to verify that it is functioning properly. The zPDT release level is displayed as one of the messages early in the initialization process. It should report release 47.16.
Review the External Release Letter carefully; there are significant changes.
